In the 30 plus years we have been coming down to the lock, camping with the kids on the island at weekends, bringing our boat down to Eynsham every summer, dog walks, running etc. Nick was always there with a friendly smile and a chat. This is devastating news and he will be greatly missed. Condolences to his family.

Nik was a lovely kind, thoughtful and genuine man. He loved Sally-Anne with every inch of his being, and was a loving and inspirational step father to Jess and Matt and becoming Grandpa to Fox, he stood by them all through very difficult times. Nik expressed to us how much he loved his job and even encouraged Deane to apply to become a temporary lock keeper to cover for holidays etc. Nik, may you rest in peace, you will be sorely missed by everyone. I'm sure you will continue keeping watch over Enysham Lock from up above, and stay by the side of your wonderful wife, step children and Grandson. Tee & Deane Mallinson x
